Story

Alberto and Alejandro Turrent, the owners of Nueva Matacapan de Tabacos S.A. de C.V., represent the first family of Mexico’s cigar industry. This father-son duo not only crafts some of the finest cigars in Mexico but also serves as the largest grower of cigar tobacco in the nation. Their San Andres Maduro leaf, cultivated near Veracruz, is internationally recognized for its exceptional quality, and their tobaccos are key ingredients in many of America’s leading premium cigar brands.

To maintain the consistency of their flagship Casa Turrent line, Alejandro determined that a large factory would not suit the intricate production of the Casa series. In June, he renovated his great-grandfather’s house to create a boutique factory staffed by 15 people dedicated to producing the Casa Turrent series.

Tasting Note

Named after the year the Turrent family started cultivating tobacco, the 1880 Sui Generis is a refined cigar with a distinguished profile. It offers a toasty flavor enriched with delightful hints of chocolate. This medium-full bodied smoke is perfect for seasoned aficionados and goes wonderfully with rum, tequila, or a cup of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
